As school board member Al Link spoke during the Second Saturday Breakfast this morning, and as he and Jerry Peters exchanged glances before he (Link) got up to speak, as I gave an update on the Moore Case, I had to question if I should remain apathetic or become sympathetic for both individuals.
Each time Link has the opportunity to speak, he is so on the defensive now, and people are beginning to wonder and question why he puts himself in this position. As he spoke, the beginning of his speech was fine, however, he seemed to drift into the real reason why he got up to speak, and that is to talk about people who "blog on the Internet and Twitter, and give erroneous information, and not know what they are talking about." At the conclusion of the breakfast, people asked this question of me. If he (Link) does not visit the sites as he claims not to do, and unless someone is giving him copies of what is posted on the sites, why would he say what is on them, and think the people are being misled into what he says he is not doing and saying? My answer was then, and is now, who knows, and who cares. The facts speak for themselves, and I know a Federal Judge did not make any mistakes in his rulings from motions filed from the plaintiffs, as well as the defendents that is posted on this Website to give the public an opportunity to decide for themselves who is telling the truth and who is lying. It is why the Website exists.
The facts are what they are, and normally I would not address such, but many individuals who attended the breakfast was offended with some of the comments made, because they know what the NAACP and a few others have contended continues to be proven to be the truth. The facts truly speak for themselves. I vividly remember the times when Link and others villified the NAACP in the media when we had no means of getting our side of the story told, to include not being able to pay the Daily Star to print it for us, because the Daily Star refused to do so. The tides changed, and as we look in retrospect on what happened to deter our efforts, seemingly those same efforts to thwart the NAACP look as if it has turned into the direction of the TPSS and School Board, as well as the Daily Star in the decline of their sales, the alleged loss of their AP (Associated Press) connections, and the alleged loss of some of their advertisers and allegations of advertisers having to send their advertisements to a yahoo address.
Apathetic or sympathetic? I/We continue to decide which.
Mr. Link, you said it correctly, "you underestimated the abilities." That sir, was your mistake. You must remember you are a public servant, because you are elected to hold the position. Whether or not you will continue to hold it is up to you.
Certainly, God does have a way of reversing the script, and as I expressed this morning, this fight does not belong to anyone except God.
