In last night's school board meeting, Mr. Link seemed adamant in his comments of how people now perceive some of the board members. We ask Mr. Link, whose fault is it? It has long been said perception is everything. We agree. The perception given by some on the school board for many years has finally come to true and full fruition, and the citizens of Tangipahoa Parish now see what has been happening for years that is wrong in this school system, and is coming together against it.
Idiosyncratically comments made, such as the ones made by Mr. Link last night only show the public is correct in thinking as we do. The comments made exhibited poor taste as a school board member, and exhibited anger. The public trust in many on the school board is low, and continues to plummet.
As an aside, the same holds true for the comments made by Mr. Ridgel in his sanctions received in his violating the law. The law was clear.
As we watch what is happening in the Moore Case, we wonder when will the school system and board finally come to realize much more will be accomplished positively when we sit down and talk together, otherwise, the court venture will be a long tedious one for the Tangipahoa Parish School System.
An old wise tale goes, "be careful of the ditch you dig for others, you might fall into it yourself." No pun intended, but the aforementioned comment is a true saying. This sleeping giant is now awakened, and the people want transparency and will settle for nothing less. It is our money, and we have a constitutional right to know how it is spent and used.
As we digress from this subject, plaintiff's attorneys will finally get paid. The story from the Advocate will give a clear and non-skewed picture of what was asked for, and what will actually be paid to plaintiff's attorneys in this first round of battles.
