Tangipahoa Parish School Board has done it again. This time they've incorporated the assistance of the Registrar of Voters, John Russell. A report by Action News 17 website has just released a huge story about how voters in the city of Ponchatoula, in Baptist, and Loranger have voted on magnet school taxes they don't have to pay, while some of the citizens of Hammond were not allowed to vote and yet are paying 6 millages.
Some are quick to point out that once the illegal precinct votes are removed, the magnet tax would still have passed. The thought process there is distorted. If you only remove illegal votes and do not add back potential votes, how can one conclude the outcome of the election?
People should be outraged. Your constitutional rights are violated in the worst way and the Tangipahoa Parish School Board is culpable. Action News said they plan to investigate school tax elections that go back possibly to the Sumner School Tax. We say THANK GOD! The NAACP has been trying for over a year to get someone interested. We discovered over a year ago that people as far as Loranger pay for the Sumner School Tax. We knew the School Board had feloniously caused taxpayers to pay for schools their own children could not attend. Voter fraud in this fashion is designed to disenfranchise the uneducated poor. Now it blatently includes even more savvy and educated voters.
Are you ok with people in Pumpkin Center voting on taxes YOU pay and were unable to vote up or down yourself? If you don't, perhaps you are among those people politicians always refer to as "sheeple." Don't be so caught up in your own life that you allow your constitutional rights to be trampled upon.
Go read the story and by the way, according to the story, if you want a refund of your taxes, good luck, you'll have to INDIVIDUALLY go to the Clerk Of Court and request a reassessment. That means the uninformed of you, the old lady next door who can't possibly fathom what's happening to her, the uneducated working taxpayer who aren't paying close attention and others will be robbed, and only the few who can sift through this debacle will have their taxes reimbursed.
Many people believe a class action suit should be filed to protect those who pay taxes and are disenfranchised. We have no intention of allowing this to be swept under the rug.
Yet another reason the NAACP wants to investigate the money of the School Board. They cannot be trusted. They are asking for $250 million dollars from taxpayers and everyone knows they have $200 million that is bondable right now!
