I would like to re-introduce the School Board Attorney in the desegregation case, Mr. Charlie Patin. Just in case none of you know him, here is a video clip of he and Ken Benitez done a couple years ago. As you will be able to tell, he's quite a droll fellow.

Chris Moody's Letter to the Editor
Hindsight is 20/20. Read what attorney for the School Board, Chris Moody said in a letter to the editor about Patricia Morris, President of the Greater Tangipahoa NAACP.

What Curriculum does your High School Offer?
Sometime back, we compared the courses offered by the white high schools in comparison to the black high schools of the parish. Here is just another reason Patricia Morris fights for equity in the schools.
27 Page Ruling on Alden Foster
Here is the case that opened up the deseg case for the NAACP. Alden Foster was the first black head football coach for the Parish of Tangipahoa Parish. Read the 27 page ruling.
Mark Vining's Position Defined
The School Board had to fire Mark Vining (white) to hire Alden Foster (black). The judge had to force this to happen because the school board refused to hire a black head coach. Ultimately, Vining got a newly created position and more money as the school board thumbed its nose at the federal judge at the NAACP for having lost this battle. Mark Vining's position is defined here.
Review the disparity in expenditures between black schools and white schools.
Our auditors reviewed minutes of the school board for the last 4 years (up to January 2009) to see what money was spent where. Check out the disparities (especially at the high school level). White schools like Ponchatoula High with less of a tax base than Hammond schools get it all, while black high schools like Kentwood get nothing.

Welcome It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to this website. It is my hope this site will open the eyes of Tangipahoa Parish citizens to the facts concerning the Joyce Marie Moore Desegregation Case.
As many of you know, the official journal for the Tangipahoa Parish School System is the HammondStar Newspaper.
It has been difficult for the plaintiffs (class of black children and their parents) in the Joyce Marie Moore Deseg Case to have their side heard. This website will produce the facts in the case in a fair and honest approach so the citizens of Tangipahoa Parish will have a clear view and understanding of what is happening in this case.
It is our hope the citizens of this parish will be able to come together as a group - in a single voice for the sake of our greatest assets - our children.
--Patricia Morris

1 John 4:20
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Oh What a Tangled Web...
When will Al Link, Danny Ridgel, Ann Smith, Rose Dominguez and Mark Kolwe ever figure it out? Your sneaky politics and game-playing is catching up to you!
For four years, the Greater Tangipahoa NAACP, and its President, Pat Morris have been bashed, called liars and radicals, and have been malighed in the newspaper by these school board members and their superintendent. Those who have realized we were telling the truth about these shenanigans and who have come on board to our fight have had to endure the wrath of the great Mark Kolwe and his tyrancy and control.
For years, Al Link and Mark Kolwe have "owned" the school board and now the people of Hammond have had enough. Our beloved Carmon Moore, Principal of Hammond High School, a man who has done more than coach kids, he's mentored them, was pushed out of Hammond High with an ultimatim, either get out, or be moved into a position that clearly is a step down. Mr. Morre relented to retire, but the people who love him, black and white alike, will not take this latest exercise of control, lying down.
This is an election year for these board members, and they should pay attention to men of distinction like David Danel, and Dr. Daryl Peterson. These men are dedicated to Hammond High, and especially Coach Moore. Hear what they have to say.
Principal of Hammond High School, Carmon Moore requested a sabbatical from the Tangipahoa Parish School Board. The Board voted to accept his sabbatical application and subsequent retirement. What transpired in this meeting was the outrage of the School Board Members who voted on this sabbatical / retirement. Apparently, Mr. Link, Mr. Kolwe and Mr. Bellavia gave Coach Moore an ultimatim, "retire or be transferred to the PM school." It was more than Sandra Simmons and Sonya Traylor, along with the public could take. The Superintendent and his cohorts are playing games and politics with Hammond's shining star, Coach Carmon Moore.
David Danel and other citizens are outraged over the way Coach Moore were handled and are requesting before the board that they rethink their position on Coach Moore. As the NAACP, we too, have been before this same board requesting (even begging) for them to do the right thing. We will make a prediction that when the vote to reassess Coach Moore's resignation comes before the board, these will be the dissenters: Al Link, Danny Ridgel, Ann Smith, Rose Dominguez. When it is convenient, these four will dig up Robert Potts from his sick bed if it services their agenda of desruction on Tangipahoa Parish children.
