Welcome It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to this website. It is my hope this site will open the eyes of Tangipahoa Parish citizens to the facts concerning the Joyce Marie Moore Desegregation Case.
As many of you know, the official journal for the Tangipahoa Parish School System is the HammondStar Newspaper.
It has been difficult for the plaintiffs (class of black children and their parents) in the Joyce Marie Moore Deseg Case to have their side heard. This website will produce the facts in the case in a fair and honest approach so the citizens of Tangipahoa Parish will have a clear view and understanding of what is happening in this case.
It is our hope the citizens of this parish will be able to come together as a group - in a single voice for the sake of our greatest assets - our children.

What Curriculum does your High School Offer?
Sometime back, we compared the courses offered by the white high schools in comparison to the black high schools of the parish. Here is just another reason Patricia Morris fights for equity in the schools.
27 Page Ruling on Alden Foster
Here is the case that opened up the deseg case for the NAACP. Alden Foster was the first black head football coach for the Parish of Tangipahoa Parish. Read the 27 page ruling.
Mark Vining's Position Defined
The School Board had to fire Mark Vining (white) to hire Alden Foster (black). The judge had to force this to happen because the school board refused to hire a black head coach. Ultimately, Vining got a newly created position and more money as the school board thumbed its nose at the federal judge at the NAACP for having lost this battle. Mark Vining's position is defined here.
Review the disparity in expenditures between black schools and white schools.
Our auditors reviewed minutes of the school board for the last 4 years (up to January 2009) to see what money was spent where. Check out the disparities (especially at the high school level). White schools like Ponchatoula High with less of a tax base than Hammond schools get it all, while black high schools like Kentwood get nothing.

Magnet School Tax - DENIED (Jan 19, 2010)
Judge Ivan Lemelle denied the Tangipahoa Parish School Board's motion for the Hammond Magnet Schools. The School Board had already gotten the Bond Commission to approve their tax for the March 2010 ballot.
The rumormill suggests the School Board will be appealing the decision. read the decision here >>>

Help Pat help the children of this parish. Pat Morris gets not a single dime for her efforts as the president of the Greater Tangiphoa NAACP. She has degrees (yes that's plural) and can't get a job in this Parish or neighboring parishes. Surprised? We're not.
Please help Pat financially to keep her bills going and to keep up the fight. She's gaining huge momentum now and we need your help.
